The Samba de Gafiera Study Group

What is Samba de Gafiera?

Samba de Gafieira is a Brazilian partner dance originated in Rio de Janeiro’s in the 1930s, and it takes is name from the gafieiras, popular dance halls of taht time.  It is characterised by its playfulness, dynamic footwork, and a lively, energetic connection between the dancers, and it incorporates a variety of influences from Maxixe, Argentine Tango, and other dance styles, making it a rich and unique style.

The Study Group in Hamburg

As there are currently no regular classes in Hamburg, we organised a small group to train and dance together. João Jezuz, from Rio de Janeiro 🇧🇷, is our teacher, who visits us in Hamburg to teach us this wonderful dance.

We plan our meetings through a WhatsApp group that you can join here: Samba Study Group HH or you can contact me via Instagram or Email if you do not have WhatsApp (Flazoukie, sharezoukhamburg@gmail.com).
